The Boat

Why help a cancer patient with boat projects? What has fixing a boat got to do with being sick anyways?

Well there are a few reasons I think you should consider helping me with my project. First and foremost, we all only live once and life is short. I wasted mine living in survival mode in a constant state of fight or flight and a few months into learning how exist instead of survive I was blindsided with cancer. Now I find myself right back in fight or flight survival mode but the stakes are much higher and the clock is ticking. I refuse to give up on my live aboard dreams, this lifestyle is one of the only things keeping my mind strong and my soul happy through these insanely hard times, to lose it would be to lose my grasp on why Im fighting for tomorrow.

I no longer have forever to figure out all the systems of this boat, time has become more precious than money or skill. What I looked forward to teaching myself and suffering through the learning processes of I am now forced to find a team of angels who are pure enough to want to see this dream into fruition as much as I do. My dreams are not cancelled, they are not on hold, they are on hyper speed. Bust out a hammer and help me build this bullet train to bliss, everyone who helps and donates is invited to come sailing!

It is a big job. When I say every system, there is not a single part of me that wishes it wasn’t an exaggeration. It needs everything, times two. Yes I could sell it and buy something more set up to go, bot honestly at this point that would be just as much work as just getting it going as is anyways.

Walrus is a 39 foot custom aluminum catamaran built in the Netherlands in 2000. She is a one of a kind vessel –  no literally I’ve scoured the internet and found basically no info on her or any other like her! Im her fourth owner and first one to flag her Canadian. She started out in French waters under the name Kilifia and then was US flagged under the name My Soun. She is quirky, unique and feels more like a monohull than a cat for the most part.

Her least desirable feature is the 3 foot stairway leading into the hulls. Her most desirable feature is her spacious four foot decks on each side leading up to the tranquil trampoline on the bow.  I have been posting refit videos on my social medias and will eventually do a proper boat tour video. Let me know what you guys want to see and know about the boat!
